Extraordinary Ministers of Eucharist  and Communion to the Sick

This group assists with the distribution of Communion at Mass, as well as attending to the sick and housebound members of the parish. Ministers are rostered for each Mass. They also visit and take Communion to the Catholic residents of the Aged Care facilities listed below where our priests celebrate Mass once a month.  Efforts are made to keep in touch with parishioners who are in Nursing Homes outside the parish.

Our parish has responsibility for pastoral care of the following Nursing Homes:-

Training is available and a  curriculum is provided. Assistance is arranged for new catechist volunteers for the first few classes or until the catechist is confident working alone.

Children’s Liturgy (Little Church)

The aim of Children’s Liturgy or ‘Little Church’ is to present the Gospel of the day in a meaningful manner to children between the ages of 4 to 12 years. It is held every Sunday in School Terms during the 9.30am Mass. Volunteer pairs run this activity each week.

Choir/Music

Musicians lead in singing and in playing music at our weekend Masses. They schedule their own meetings to practice their Church hymns.  Some of our musicians are available for funerals, weddings and other functions.

Musicians generally play and sing during the following parts of Mass: Entrance, Offertory, Communion, Reflection and Recession.

Cleaners

Volunteers are rostered to clean the Church every week on a roster system.  Additional helpers would be welcomed and appreciated.

Legion of Mary

The Legion of Mary admits active and auxiliary members. The former attends a weekly meeting and are allocated work which contributes to the work of the Parish; such as visiting the sick, acting as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion and leading state school scripture lessons. Auxiliary members support with their prayers the important work of the Legion.

The Statue of Our Lady is available for parishioners to take home so that family and friends may gather to say the rosary, prayers and to offer their devotion.   See the list in the church foyer if you wish to invite Our Lady into your home.

Maintenance of Buildings and Grounds

This ministry involves attending to the maintenance of Parish property and Church grounds.

Money Counters/Wardens

These volunteers count money from collections every Sunday morning. The Wardens organise the collections during Masses and ask parishioners of all ages to assist each week at Masses. Planned weekly envelopes  are available. Collect a blue form in the church foyer to join as a regular contributor.  You can also make your donations via Direct debit. Forms for this are available at the parish office or at the Support Us Tab on the home page.

Pious Goods Stall

The Pious Goods Stall sells religious gifts in the foyer of the Church after Mass. This allows parishioners to conveniently buy lovely religious goods, candles and cards for all special occasions. Volunteers serve at the stall each week. New volunteers are always welcome.

Projectionists

Projectionists setup and control the PowerPoint slides on the projectors during the weekend Masses (Saturday 5:30pm, Sunday 8:00am, Sunday 9:30am and Sunday 5:00pm).

Where there is no music or musicians are unable to control the projectors, a projectionist will assist by setting up the projectors and laptop, navigating through the slides during Mass, and packing up the projectors and laptop. Projectionists receive complete training and have access to a reference guide in the Sacristy. They also have support throughout their involvement in this Ministry.

Readers and Commentators

This is the ministry of Reading at Mass and at special parish liturgical celebrations e.g. Easter and Christmas.  The Weekend Masses have a reader and a commentator while extra readers are provided for special occasions [e.g. reading of the Passion on Palm Sunday].

Commentators introduce readings, read/lead the response to the Psalms, and lead the Prayers of the Faithful.  A roster is organised and new volunteers are always welcome.
