Becoming Catholic

At the parish of St Christopher we strive to share the fullness and beauty of the Catholic faith with anyone who seeks to know and understand what it means to be a Catholic. Whatever your background, whether another Christian faith, a non-Christian denomination or an interest because you are marrying a Catholic, or even seeking a spiritual nourishment that you have been unable to find, we welcome the opportunity to share the Catholic faith with you.

For those interested, the process includes opportunities to meet with our priests, ask questions and discuss Catholic teachings in order to discern what it means to be a Catholic. If a decision is taken to begin the process of joining the church, the candidate will commence the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), which involves a period of questioning, discussion, prayer opportunities and instruction on all aspects of the Catholic faith. The process of RCIA culminates in the candidate receiving the Sacraments of Baptism* (if the candidate has not had a Christian Baptism), Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. The time taken to complete this process may vary for candidates.

For initial information on this process please contact the Parish office.
